While at uni my personal style has developed a lot and I’ve started being a bit more adventurous with the things that I have been wearing. I’ve added more colour to my wardrobe, mainly pinks and oranges, and started wearing different silhouettes. I haven’t been wearing jeans as often, and when I do they’re normally mom or boyfriend styles rather than super tight. At uni you’ll find that you end up with certain clothes for different types of days.

Library Clothes

(From Left: Black Side Stripe Hoodie (£15) and matching Joggers (£15), Oversized Hoodie (SALE £10), High Waisted ¾ Leggings (£6)

The library is the last place you’ll want to be dressing up especially if you know it’s going to be a long night of studying and looking at computer screens. To stay as comfortable as possible I’d definitely recommend you find a selection of tracksuits and hoodies as well as a lot of leggings and baggy t-shirts.

Art Threads

(From Left: Classic White T-Shirt £7, Embroidered Boob Tee £8, Cropped Retro Tee £6)

If, like me, you’re doing a course that involves days where you’re bound to get messy then you’re going to end up ruining a lot of clothes unless you have dedicated ‘messy’ clothes. Men’s t-shirts are always best for a relaxed and oversized fit which is perfect for moving around the print room or studio spaces. I always wear white t-shirts for these kinds of days because whatever colour ends up on it almost adds to the top. Little tip: never spend more than £10 on clothes that you know will end up with marks all over them and always pair with old jeans, shorts or leggings.

Quick Fits

(Top Row, From Left: Tall Black Casual Wide Leg Trousers £18, Stretchy Trousers £20, Black Tie Waist Cropped Trousers £19.99)

(Bottom Row, From Left: Love Print Tee £10, Embroidered Rose Tee £10, Screen Skull Top £18)

These are the kind of clothes you need when you have a 9am lecture but wake up at 9.15 and everything seems to be taking forever. The ‘quick t-shirt and wide leg trouser’ combo has saved me so many times and has almost become one of my staple styles. When you’re doing your uni clothes shopping make sure you pick up a selection of graphic tees and some wide leg trousers.

Layers and Layers

(From Left: Teddy Faux Fur Bomber Jacket £29.99, Camel Denim Jacket £29.99, Ribbed Wide Sleeve Jumper £20)

Layering is essential to me at uni, especially because I’m in Manchester with unpredictable weather. I always get jackets oversized so I can wear them over hoodies and thick jumpers, I also make sure they’re not lined with something that will make me overheat and that wont shed onto my clothes. Whenever I shop for jackets I make sure they don’t look low quality even if they are low in price, normally high street brands are amazing for faux furs and leather; they’re also really good for oversized denim at a lower price.

Uni Bags

(From Left: Help Refugees Choose Love organic cotton tote bag £8, Eastpak Orange Padded Backpack £45, Slouchy Holdall £22)

After freshers, you’ll end up with about 50 different tote bags and you’ll actually end up using a few of them so only get rid of the ugly ones (there will be a lot of ugly ones) and keep any that are nice colours, prints or sizes. Backpacks are standard for uni but definitely invest in one you can use all year round; every backpack I have invested in has lasted me so long and now I’ve got about 5 that I’ve basically rotated since secondary school. If you’re going to be getting coaches to and from home you should definitely get a get a strong holdall bag that you don’t mind getting thrown about; they also hold loads of stuff and you don’t have to drag it around behind you.

Little Extras

(Top Row, From Left: Statement Tortoiseshell Earrings £8, Spiral Gold Hoop £6, Twist Hoop Earrings £10)

(Bottom Row, From Left: Vintage Style Necklace £6, Moon Face Necklace £18, Vintage Coin Necklace £18)

Accessories can make any outfit look like you’ve put in a lot more effort than you actually have. I wear earrings, normally gold hoops, everyday because they always finish off any outfit. This season, we’ve seen a huge trend in statement earrings and the trend seems to be carrying on into A/W18 so make sure you keep an eye out for the shapes and colours. If I do wear a statement earring, I usually go for something that’s a darker colour so they don’t distract from what I’m wearing too much. I also always wear a necklace as I think wearing subtle jewellery adds to the illusion that you’ve made loads of effort even if all you’ve done is rolled out of bed and grabbed the nearest hoodie.

Working While At Uni

One of the most common things I get asked is how I manage to balance work and uni without getting stressed out the simple answer to that is I don’t. It is stressful but I know I’d be more stressed if I wasn’t earning money while I was studying. As long as you work out a balance between work and study you’ll be able to do the both with, hopefully, no worries.

How did you get your job?

What Do I Pack?

What Do I Pack?

Summer has been jam packed so far and I’ve been none stop since May! If you want to keep updated on what I’ve been getting up to during summer then follow my instagram here as I’ll be keeping that up to date with different things I’ve been doing.

Moving to uni last year was stressful because I literally had no clue what to bring with me and I definitely ended up overpacking. I tried to find out…

Summer is starting and by the looks of things, we’re getting lucky with the weather here in the UK. I’ve realised, however, that I have hardly any clothes that are suitable for the heatwaves we’ve been having. I’ve done a fair bit of shopping for summer as well as way too much browsing and wanted to share some of the things that I’ve found with you all.

Cycling Shorts

Top from left: Pretty Little Thing Red Camo Shorts £10, Boohoo Rainbow Stripe Cycling Shorts £8, Topshop Checkerboard Cycling Shorts £19

Bottom from left: Missguided Checked Cycling Shorts £12, Boohoo Disco Shine Shorts £8, Missguided Suede Cycling Shorts £12

These have been a staple item in my wardrobe for a long time but I usually wear them under dresses or skirts to stop my thighs rubbing together. This summer however, I’ve started wearing them just as shorts with tshirts or hoodies. They’re super comfy to wear and they make your legs look amazing! I wore cycling shorts on both days of Parklife and got so many compliments on them!

Funky Frames

Top from left: AJ Morgan Octagon Round Sunglasses £18, ASOS DESIGN Metal Rose Gold Cat Eye Sunglasses £12, Vero Moda Half Cut Slim Retro Sunglasses £14

Bottom from left: ASOS DESIGN squared off narrow cat eye sunglasses £12, AJ Morgan Square Sunglasses £18, Bershka cat eye sunglasses in light pink £10.99

One of the biggest celebrity trends at the moment are sunglasses with odd frames; we’ve seen everyone from the Hadid sisters to Gabrielle Union wearing them. I’ve always thought that sunglasses add that extra touch to any look but now highstreet brands have started to be more creative with the frames they’re putting out on their shelves, we can all take our outfits to that next level. All of the sunglasses featured here are from ASOS because this is where most of mine come from; their selection is amazing and so is their price range! You can get anything from designer brands to 2-4-1 deals.

Super Crops

From left: Mia White & Black Super Cropped Lounge Set £15, White Longsleeve Rib Extreme Crop Top £12, Black Longsleeve Rib Extreme Crop Top £12

We all know about crop tops, we’ve been wearing them for decades but this summer we’ve been introduced to the Super Crop Top. These are essentially just sleeves and a bit of fabric covering the top of your chest, but paired with the right items and you’ve got an outfit to envy. As I have a bigger chest compared to the people you see modelling these, I prefer to make my own so the I can cut them to a length that is perfect to me. It’s the easiest thing to do; all you need is an oversized tshirt and a pair of fabric scissors.

Mini Bags

Top from left: Red Convertible Strap Micro Backpack £15.99, UO Mini Faux Fur Backpack £15 (ON SALE), BDG Mini Corduroy Backpack £29,

Bottom from left: Silver Mini Backpack £29.99, Flame Heart Mini Backpack £18 (ON SALE), Adidas Originals X Farm Printed Mini Backpack £40

These will be an absolute lifesaver at any festival or event you are going to this summer. Most places that I have been or have planned to go have restrictions on the size of bags you’re allowed to bring which limits the amount of things you can fit in there. I’ve started to wear these as part of my everyday wardrobe now that I don’t have all of my uni stuff to carry around and I’m looking to get a few more different styles to add to the ones that I have.

Bright and Bolds

Top from left: Bodycon Vertical Stripe Dress £30, Adidas Trefoil Hoodie £27.50 (ON SALE), Distressed Denim Mini Skirt £22,

Bottom from left: Red Chain Detail Cargo Trousers £38, Orange Hoodie £17.99, Bold Stripe Tie Front Top £16

This is by far my favourite part of summer; when all of the shops start selling the brightest colours they can find. My favourite colour to wear is orange so I’ll be stocking up on anything orange that I can get my hands on this summer. Different colours compliment different skin tones so to find your colour it’s all about testing what works for your tone. It’s a lot of trial and error but it’s definitely worth doing because once you know your colours it’s easier to shop for things.

Fishnet details

Top from left: fishnet mesh ribbed neck crop top £15, Mesh Top Bodycon Dress £25, Dangerous Woman Fishnet Top $15

Bottom from left: White Fishnet Shorts £15, Fishnet Cycling Shorts £8, Black Fishnet Unitard £18

You can buy pretty much and item of clothing in fishnet if you look in the right places which is exactly why the material never really goes out of style. An absolute staple in my wardrobe is a long sleeve fishnet top which is amazing for adding an extra edge to outfits. UK summers are known for being windy, and a lot of the time rainy, so pairing summer tshirt dresses with a long sleeved fishnet top or a mini skirt with a pair of fishnet tights is such a simple way to still make a statement while still adding on layers.

Summer Must Haves Summer is starting and by the looks of things, we’re getting lucky with the weather here in the UK.
